Most people do know the oldest trick in the book: mnemonic devices.
The lines, for example from low to high:
Good Bikes Don't Fall Apart, Middle C, Every Good Boy Does Fine.
And the spaces from low to high:
All Cows Eat Grass, B and D (surrounding Middle C), and FACE.
It's greatly simplifying to appreciate that there are only 2 types of notes: lines and spaces.
Many people aren't aware that the Treble Clef and the Bass Clef come from the letters G and F, respectively. Where do you find G and F on these staffs, you might wonder?
